Home. What is home? When leaving to visit my family back in MN, I told people I was going home for the holidays. But while there I didn’t feel like I was home per se. It seems now that Seattle and my apartment there is my home. So that got my thinking what defines ‘home’? I’d imagine that people’s definitions differ greatly. So then what is my definition of ‘home’? I think right now my definition is the location where I spend most of my nights sleeping. But since that isn’t true for all people. Can I generalize a definition that encompasses the majority of people? I think about all the business travelers, athletes, movie stars and musicians that spend the majority of their time on the road. They sleep all over the place. So what defines home?

  1. I’ve always wondered about the life of professional musicians. How hard is it to maintain a long distance relationship; let alone one where members are in constant motion all around the planet.

    Seems our culture doesn’t support a good solid definition of home. I find that disturbing, and will do my best to always call one place my home, and the same for my kids in the future.

    Just my thoughts.
