How do some do it?

Really I don’t get how some people manage to come up with substantive posts day after day. There are bloggers out there who seem to have something interesting to say everyday. I don’t get how they do that. Is it something natural that I don’t have? Is it just something simple as practice and I am just way out of practice? My goal is to get to a point where I can write something worthwhile every day. We’ll see if I ever get there though.

  1. In short, there are left brains and right brains. Scientific, logical thinking people are left brained and tend to take information in and analyze it exhaustively in a quantity manner. In the converse, right brained people tend to output their thoughts, feelings, and emotions on a constant basis in a quality fashion.

People obviously have characteristics of one-sidedness, but in reality we are a little of both. It seems to me that the people spurting off blog entries EVERY day are just weighted more to the right than the left, but with plenty of knowledge in whatever they’re writing about.

I guess all this blah blah, and I’m just trying to say that some people have these “ah hah” blogging thoughts consistently; whereas scientists and engineers feel the need to formulate, support, and defend their theses before they make them public.

“When I grow up I want to be a writer” Seems like these are the people we are talking about.

    I love 5:00am.

  2. I agree with Gareth. In addition, just keep the idea of blogging in the front of your head, instead of the back. If you make blogging foremost, it comes much easier.

Lastly, look at the time of posts from those bloggers who blog consistently. It’s usually during the day. If it’s during the day, I’m at work, and I have more important things to do than to expose my opinions on the world. I think having a job that is simply level-of-effort (think technical support) as opposed to discrete tasking (think software engineering) gives you that greater freedom.

  3. Oh, I should say one more thing. I’m taking a vacation day today, hence the reply during the workday.

  4. I agree with Brian on the “level of effort” job. You should sign up for security clearance so you can get paid to shop online and blog too :)
